About me
Dr. Eric Junco is a Director of Academic Cultivation and Engagement and Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Northern Illinois University. He teaches a range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including Science Methods, Classroom Management for Elementary Educators, & Communities of Care: SEL, Trauma-Awareness and Community-Connected Teaching. His research focuses on how identity, safety, and community shape learning, and how educators can design classrooms that foster connection and student voice. Dr. Junco frequently partners with school districts, regional offices of education, and community organizations to develop practical, equity-driven professional learning. His work brings together SEL, restorative practices, literacy, culturally responsive teaching, AI technology, and teacher preparation to help schools create environments where every student feels valued and supported.
